What is Wear it Purple Day?

Wear it Purple Day is Friday the 28th of August, 2020. The day is about showing LGBTIQ+ young people that they have the right to be proud of who they are. It is about creating safe spaces in schools, universities, workplaces and public spaces to show LGBTIQ+ young people that they are seen and supported. Wear It Purple is a not-for-profit organization which was founded in 2010 in response to global stories of real teenagers who took their own lives following bullying and harassment. Learn more here.

Glamazon ANZ is proud to support Wear it Purple Day this year by encouraging Amazonians to donate to this 100% volunteer-run organization. While giving to a good cause is the best reward in itself, you also get to be part of something special! Keep reading.

Rainbow Quilt

Inspired by the world's largest piece of community art, the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, Glamazon ANZ is doing its own version of the "Rainbow Youth Quilt" which comprises donor submitted "quilt squares." PURPLE being the theme - submit a selfie wearing something purple, a piece of purple digital artwork by yourself or your rainbow youth, or a digitized version of hand-made artwork as your quilt square.

Easy-peasy. Go to our quilt upload form and follow a few simple steps to upload your picture after making a donation (if you can) to Wear It Purple. If you're unable to donate, still show your solidarity with LGBTIQ+ youth by wearing something purple today and uploading your pictures! An exclusive Phonetool Icon will also be awarded to all participants. We know how much we love our icons! So what are you waiting for? Donate, Click and make HISTORY!
